The ITS America Conference & Expo brings over 3,000 transportation leaders, engineers, government officials, and technology companies together for North America’s largest annual intelligent transportation and mobility conference. ITS America is focused on improving transportation through technology. This year’s event was held in Michigan on June 9-12, where WDIV Local 4 News in Detroit caught up with me to chat about Iteris’ contributions in this sector.

In the following clip, detection and RADAR refer to tools that improve the safe and smooth transport of people and goods through technologies like AI-enabled sensors and cameras, as well as traffic analytics software leveraging anonymized probe data that requires no field hardware.

One of the clearest themes emerging from this year's conference was the rapid evolution of software platforms like Iteris ClearGuide®, the probe-based software solution designed to complement and enhance the value of already existing transportation hardware solutions.

As roadway detection and connected infrastructure become increasingly intelligent through the integration of AI, they are generating richer, timelier, and highly actionable data sets. The real transformation occurs when that data is paired with advanced software analytics and decision support tools, enabling agencies to operate more efficiently, respond more effectively, and improve safety outcomes.

At Iteris we believe that the future of transportation is no longer defined by hardware or software alone. It is defined by how effectively the two work together, and Iteris is uniquely positioned to lead that evolution. This convergence of intelligent hardware and powerful software is accelerating progress toward Vision Zero, helping communities reduce crashes, protect vulnerable road users, and ultimately save lives.
