National Stop on Red Week: Stop on Red, Save a Life

Every year, hundreds of lives are lost in crashes that could have been prevented by one simple action: stopping at a red light. As we observe National Stop on Red Week (August 3–9, 2025), Iteris proudly joins the National Coalition for Safer Roads and communities across the country in raising awareness about the dangers of red-light running and the importance of intersection safety.

According to the FHWA, someone runs a red light an average of every 20 minutes at urban intersections. Red-light running contributes to 165,000 crashes and up to 800 fatalities annually—many of them involving pedestrians and cyclists.
