Nebraska's local ABC affiliate NTV News joined City of Grand Island street superintendent Shannon Callahan and a team of Iteris traffic engineers recently at a signal timing operation.

As part of the city's initiative to make travel safer, and reduce crashes and red-light runners, Iteris will be optimizing signal timing light by light through Grand Island's Highway 281 and Webb Road area.

The new signal timing, which will change depending on the time of day to account for peak-hour traffic, is expected to be finalized by the end of this week.
