Fox 35 Orlando: Osceola County Using Cameras for Pedestrian Safety

Florida's FOX 35 Orlando News joined Osceola County traffic management center supervisor Lindsey Giovinazzo and system operator Tim Heins to highlight the county's proactive response to Central Florida's pedestrian safety problem.

As part of the county's initiative to make roads safer, Iteris' VantageLive! system has been implemented to support dozens of new cameras at 19 intersections along West U.S. Highway 192. By tracking how many cars, pedestrians and bicyclist come and go through the area, the county can use the data to better operations, retiming studies, grant proposals, community development and safety.

Osceola County joins the City of Port St Lucie and the City of Gainesville, which have also implemented VantageLive! at 10 and 20 locations respectively.
