BlueTOAD Spectra CV RSU Earns OmniAir Certification, Expanding Interoperable V2X Capabilities

Iteris’ BlueTOAD® Spectra™ CV—an advanced roadside unit (RSU) designed for connected vehicle environments—has achieved OmniAir® Consortium certification, marking a major step forward for interoperable V2X deployments.

This milestone builds on earlier progress. As we shared in a recent blog, the solution had already earned NEMA and FCC certifications, validating its durability and communications compliance. With OmniAir certification, the RSU now also meets strict standards for interoperability, conformance, and security across connected systems.

Why OmniAir Certification Matters

OmniAir certification is widely recognized as a benchmark for connected vehicle (CV) technology. For transportation agencies, it provides confidence that roadside infrastructure will communicate seamlessly with vehicles and other systems, without compatibility issues or vendor lock-in. It’s also often a key requirement in procurement.

One Device, Multiple Capabilities

BlueTOAD Spectra CV stands out by combining:

  • C-V2X communications for real-time safety and mobility applications
  • Bluetooth-based detection for collecting travel time, speed, vehicle counts, and origin-destination data

By bringing these capabilities together in a single RSU, agencies can reduce hardware in the field while still getting the data and connectivity they need to manage and improve roadway performance.

Building a Connected Ecosystem

This certification also complements Iteris’ growing connected vehicle portfolio. Iteris’ V2X Connect™ software previously received OmniAir certification as Qualified Test Equipment (QTE), helping agencies verify that their systems are operating securely and as intended.

With NEMA, FCC, and now OmniAir certification, BlueTOAD Spectra CV is fully positioned to support real-world connected vehicle deployments—delivering both the trusted communications and actionable data agencies rely on.
