-- Iteris to Provide Software Enhancements for Utah Department of Transportation's Motor Carrier Division Project Initiatives --

Santa Ana, Calif. ? Iteris, Inc., a leader in the traffic management market focused on the application and development of advanced technologies, has been selected by the State of Utah to provide software support services for the Iteris CVIEW-Plus™ system and Commercial Vehicle Information Systems and Networks (CVISN) currently operated by the Utah Department of Transportation, Motor Carrier Division (MCD).

The work with Utah, which is funded by Utah?s Department of Technology Services, is expected to begin in the current quarter, with a potential value of $700,000 over the next two years.

The support services are expected to include direct software development support for ongoing MCD project initiatives, design and development of enhancements to Utah?s CVIEW-Plus system, and planning for expanded CVISN projects and grant applications. This exchange of data is an important component in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of motor carrier administration and commercial motor carrier operations by federal and state government agencies.

?We are very pleased with this award. It is an extension of Iteris? work in integrating the Utah CVIEW-Plus system with various state legacy systems,? commented Abbas Mohaddes, Iteris? president and chief executive officer. ?Iteris is a widely recognized leader in deploying both CVIEW software and CVISN planning, design, and project implementation. CVIEW-Plus and CVISN support are yet another way that Iteris helps make our transportation systems safer and more efficient.?

?Iteris has been essential to UDOT?s implementation and management of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration CVISN and CVIEW-Plus Programs,? stated Rick Clasby, Director, Motor Carrier Division, Utah Department of Transportation. ?The ability to manage and distribute intrastate and interstate commercial vehicle information, and make this information available to local state agencies, other jurisdictions, federal authorities, helps Utah to improve the safety and productivity of motor carriers, commercial vehicles, and their drivers.?

During nearly 10 years of service to Utah, Iteris has provided CVISN planning and systems as well as ITS design services. Iteris assisted Utah in development of the CVISN grant application and the creation of Utah?s Expanded CVISN Program Plan and Top-Level Design document. The program plan charts out the path for the future of ITS/CVO in the state and provides a roadmap for ongoing CVISN activities.

CVIEW-Plus™
Iteris? CVIEW-Plus system provides a low cost and efficient information foundation for support of state-based commercial vehicle operations. CVIEW-Plus has been certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration as CVISN compliant and has a long history of successful deployment. The system is designed to obtain, store, and distribute intrastate and interstate commercial vehicle information. This information is made available to local state agencies, other jurisdictions, federal authorities, and other users.
