What are ZIP files?

A ZIP file is one or more files compressed into a single, smaller file. Microsoft XP and later Windows operating systems handle ZIP files or there are several tools (such as WinZip by Nico Mak Computing and PKZIP by PKware for PCs, and Stuff It by Aladdin Systems for Mac) that can be used to extract the compressed file(s). Refer to the instructions provided by the extraction tool to uncompress the ZIP file.
