Description

This market package provides the capability to detect and classify security sensitive HAZMAT on commercial vehicles using roadside sensing and imaging technology. Credentials information can be accessed to verify if the commercial driver, vehicle and carrier are permitted to transport the identified HAZMAT. If the credentials analysis and sensed HAZMAT information do not agree, the vehicle can be signaled to pull off the highway, and if required, an alarm can be sent to Emergency Management to request they monitor, traffic stop or disable the vehicle.

Early Deployment

This market package has been identified as an early deployment due to a promising combination of low risk implementation characteristics, developing public or private markets for the package, and tangible system or user benefits. As a result of September 11, detecting vehicles carrying hazardous sensitive material is an urgent need. The potential for this Market Package to address key public safety risks justifies designation as an early Market Package.
